Our Mission
At Fireweed Veterinary Services our mission is to give your beloved companion the peaceful passage they deserve, surrounded by love, in the comfort of your own home. Choosing a home euthanasia allows your pet to pass with dignity, peacefully and pain free, surrounded by family.
Why choose Fireweed Veterinary Services?
Pets nearing the end of their lives are often anxious, in pain, or difficult to move. Having our veterinary team come to you is an excellent way to reduce this stress. Dr. Amanda Grimes will do everything in her power to keep your pet comfortable and happy during the visit.

When the time comes for your pet’s euthanasia, privacy and comfort are of utmost importance. We don’t want you worried about loud noises, curious strangers, or other distractions. Our focus (and yours) should be for your pet only. We want them in their bed, on their favorite couch, or on your lap. We want you to be able to express your feelings without the worry of being overheard. Most of all, we want you, your family, and your other pets to take the time you need to say goodbye. Each in-home euthanasia appointment is scheduled for a full hour, and you can take as much of that time as you want. We respect the bond you have with your pet and encourage you to share how we can help your family feel more peaceful during our visit.

Meet Dr. Amanda Grimes
Dr. Amanda Grimes is a 2020 graduate of Colorado State University receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She is a graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks/Colorado State University Collaborative Veterinary Program. She grew up in Palmer, AK and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
After working as a general practice veterinarian, Dr. Grimes was inspired by the connection between owners and their pet that becomes precious during end of life moments. She noticed that oftentimes the owners and pets were nervous and unsure of how these appointments would work. Pet parents had little time to ask questions and prepare, resulting in them feeling less empowered about their already difficult decision. With this in mind, Fireweed Veterinary Services was founded in 2022.
Dr. Amanda Grimes has become dedicated to supporting pets and their families through their final walk together in a safe and supportive environment of love and understanding. Her biggest motivation to work in end of life care is to see the peace and calm that can surround families as they say farewell to their beloved pet in the comfort of home.
When she is not in the office or traveling to help families, Dr. Grimes enjoys gardening, hiking, and quilting. She is accompanied on her adventures by her husband and standard poodles, Cricket and Otter.
